A concert performance of this highly significant chamber opera that chronicles the experiences of a transgender person named Hannah—from her youth in a small city to her college years on the West Coast, and finally to Norway where she is surprised at what she learns about herself. Hannah is played by Elise Quagliata, a mezzo soprano who has gained notice for the unique beauty of her voice and the riveting effect she has on audiences everywhere, and baritone Jesse Blumberg, "easily one of the finest concert and recital singers of our generation." (I Care If You Listen). Directed by rising orchestral and opera conductor, Alexandra Enyart, and stage designer James Blaszko, the singers are joined by the acclaimed Maxwell String Quartet for this special Gala concert performance to close our season.
